Reopen a challenge without losing candidate progress
If a candidate needs more time or needs to make a follow-up change, you can reopen the challenge from the candidate timeline instead of starting over.
What happens when you reopen
- The candidate receives an email notification.
- Access to the challenge is restored.
- Existing code and progress stay in place.
- The time limit resets to the assignment's original value.
- The candidate timeline is updated so your team can see the reopen event.
Recommended workflow
- Open the candidate timeline.
- Find the submitted assignment event.
- Choose Reopen Challenge.
- Confirm with your team how the reopened work should be interpreted during review.
When reopening makes sense
- A candidate hit a technical issue near the finish line
- Your team explicitly asked for a follow-up improvement
- You want the candidate to continue from the same repo instead of restarting
